My students are a wonderful and diverse group of fifth graders! They keep the room fun and full of energy.
As a Title I school, more than three-quarters of my students come from low-income households.
This meaning that almost 95% of my students receive free and reduced lunch. The majority of my students are English Language Learners. We are a Units of Study/Project Based Learning School. Everyone is eager to learn and loves to be involved in hands-on activities. We consider our classroom as a second home and our classmates as a family.
For this "Classroom Library" project, I am looking to get some brand new books to add to our classroom library!
With these books, students will be able to read a variety of sets that they love and have more choice in what they want to read.
They will have more reading options available to them at their independent reading level. Meaning, they will be able to read these books completely on their own. This is something they can do when they finish their classwork early or at night for their homework. All of the book sets included in this project are ones that my students have expressed tons of interest in reading. Our school library has a few of them, and they are always looking for the others anytime they are there (we do not have enough and they are typically checked out, this is why they will be great to have in our class!). With these books, students will hopefully expand their love of reading.
Also included in this project is a whiteboard easel. This will be used for teaching small groups. I have tables spread out in my classroom. I would love to be able to use this to help teach the group of 5-6 kids that I work with during that time. Aside from that, it is a great tool for them to use to help show each other their learning and understanding.
Lastly, I have included some timers for PE.
