I teach in a low-income middle school. My students have such amazing potential and strive to always do their best. While my students struggle with a language barrier, they are always eager to learn and understand new concepts.
I believe my students have a bright future due to their excitement to learn and willingness to always improve.
They never cease to amaze me with their hard work and drive for success. I love being able to come to school and watch the growth of each student surpass their expectations. Due to many of my students' home life, they do not expect themselves to succeed. It is an amazing blessing to see my students' smiles and laughter when they "get" the concept we are working on and realize the sky is the limit.
My Project
I LOVE reading and hope to spread the message of books are fun and exciting to my students. To me, books are an escape into another world, country, or experience.
Many children today do not have the opportunity to read a book for enjoyment or the resources to get a book.
I want to give my children the opportunity of falling in love with a good book. The books I have chosen for my classroom library will take them to secret gardens, islands, and dystopian worlds. My students will be able to experience life as a lawyer or as a patient recovering from an unfortunate,deadly fever.
This will be my first year as a 7th grade teacher. Because I am coming from an elementary school, I have a great selection of lower grades reading books. I am in need of books that cater to my upper middle grade students. I am hoping to foster a love of reading to all my students.
