We are a Title I school with a large ELL (English Language Learner) and transient population. There are challenges as with any school, but we do whatever it takes to help our students succeed.
My students are a group of 19 enthusiastic and energetic learners who come from all walks of life.
They are curious, affectionate, and enjoy having conversations with both peers and teachers.
Some of my students have been here since Pre-K or Kindergarten while others are new to our school. One such student declared after his first day, "I love my new school!" My desire is to teach in a way that keeps all of my students in love with their school and education.
My Project
I moved classrooms over the summer and spent hours rearranging desks, chairs, shelves, and tables to make my classroom as inviting and effective as possible. These supplies will help me with both organization in the classroom and student engagement during lessons.
Library Book Bins: A welcoming library corner is a neat library corner!
These book bins will help us keep our classroom library organized and provide easy access to reading materials for everyone. We will no longer need to look through the book shelves for missing or misplaced books and students will be able to quickly choose a book depending on what they want to read: chapter books, nonfiction, and more!
Whiteboards: Currently, we've had to be resourceful and are using plastic sheet protectors and cards stock for our "whiteboards". We use whiteboards for a variety of tasks in the classroom such as daily math practice, spelling words, review games, writing, and more! Students use them during whole class instruction, small groups, and partner work. It's a great way for me to quickly assess if students are understanding a concept or need more practice. As an added bonus, students are more excited and engaged when doing their work on whiteboards.
