My students need a better classroom library. I want to teach novel studies, but I don't have the class sets. Some of the books I selected are favorites from my childhood and others are non-fiction.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My school is a Title I school in New Mexico, with all students receiving free breakfast and lunch. I'm a third year Special education teacher. My students are exceptional, bright, caring, and eager to learn. All my students have Individual Education Plans. Most have specific learning disabilities. More than half my students are bilingual.
Our school also has a high level of transient students which leads to further gaps in their education.
Your donation will provide the technology these students wouldn't normally have access to at home.
My Project
I would like to add to my classroom library. I have students who ask to check out books regularly because they have already read all the books at their house. I plan to use most of the books in novel studies with my class. This year I read aloud "The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane". The next time I teach this book, I will still read it aloud, but have the students follow along because I will have the class set with your help. I also wanted to be sure that I had non-fiction books as part of our studies since it will tie in nicely for social studies. I also taught the book "Wonder" this year, and want to continue teaching it as it helps kids see the other side of bullying.
With your donation you will help foster literacy and give access of more age appropriate options for my students.
