My Students

My students are a lively, energetic group of 10 and 11 year olds who love reading, writing, math, and science. I teach math and science to the entire fifth grade, so there are 53 students in and out of the classroom each day.

One of my students' favorite things to do is read in the reading center of our classroom.

They love reading graphic novels, realistic fiction, and scary novels. Sharing what they are reading is a way my students are able to bond with each other.

The students I teach come from a wide range of socioeconomic levels with different family dynamics. I have found that reading is a way we can all come together, no matter the differences, and enjoy learning, creativity, and imagination through books!

My Project

The materials I'm requesting are to give my students the opportunity to explore engaging books right in their very own classroom. My goal is to provide a classroom library that is organized and full of books students love.

These bookshelves, book bins, and books will provide my students with an organized area in the classroom to explore all of their favorite books.

When students are provided with a wide range of reading materials they begin to develop a love of reading that will continue throughout their lives.

Part of becoming a strong reader is reading more each day. I have found that peeking students' interest in reading comes with providing them books on topics they enjoy. Many of my students love reading and this project will only enhance this love and increase their reading ability.
