My students are some of the hardest-working kids you will find! They overcome many different challenges that students of their age should not have to face. I have a population of 50% Native American and 50% Caucasian.
For some of my students, school is the only safe place and consistent thing in their life.
I try to make my classroom atmosphere a place that stands out but is also comfortable for them. I use low-level lighting, and try to give students a place to learn, but also to feel safe. If students aren't happy, or content it is really hard to engage them in learning.
My Project
A classroom iPad will be used by my students in many different projects. The biggest need we have right now is having a dedicated research tool during small groups. I plan to use this during small group discussions following novel reading, or article reading.
Some students require a different vessel to feel comfortable while speaking to the entire class this iPad will provide that tool!
Students will use the iPad to create video responses or connect to programs such as Canva to develop graphics representing their thoughts. We will also use the iPad to cast directly my smart screen and share student work. While each student has a Chromebook, they are not compatible with my board.
Students will use the iPad to view other students' work in an anonymous way. They will be able to view students' submissions and do peer reviews that won't require them to swap Chromebooks or use the teacher's electronic devices.
