My Students

What do you remember about 4th-6th grade? If you're like most adults, it's not the worksheets! In our classroom, my students engage in hands-on science learning regularly. This is my first year teaching and I have realized the amount of supplies and materials that are not provided with our amazing curriculum. This project will help enhance our classroom environment and allow even more hands-on exploration.

My Project

This year we have done a lot of cell exploration through the lens of borrowed microscopes. We were unable to conduct many of our investigations due to not having microscopes in our room. We were able to borrow some from the high school, but they also need them regularly.

Having our own set of microscopes in our classroom will allow my students to further investigate and explore.

Eight microscopes will allow groups of three to four students their own observations. We will also be needing lab aprons for dissections of squid, frogs, a cow's eye and sheep brains, as well as experiments involving chemicals.
