Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students do not have the opportunity to complete many of the exciting activities associated with their lessons due to the lack of materials.
They are hardworking second graders who enjoy interactive lessons.
They are highly motivated and eager to learn. Our school is in an urban area where most of the students' families have low household incomes. Their parents do to the best they can but supplying the basics is sometimes hard.
My Project
I am requesting scissors, lined paper, calculators, folders, rulers and flash cards. These resources will enhance many of my lessons, in some cases provide the hands on experience needed to fully understand a specific concept. My students will be able to start an assignment at the same time rather than wait for someone to pass along the needed material, when they finish.
This project is so important because my students shouldn't have to wait around and share basic supplies, such as scissors, rulers and calculators.
All of my students deserve to have the appropriate tools needed to succeed in the second grade.
