My classroom of 22 students is a part of a school that serves around 95% of its student population with the free and reduced lunch program. Our Title I school is populated with over 1400 students of different cultural, racial, and ethnic backgrounds. My class consists of students who identify themselves as Asian, Black, Latino, Bi-racial and White. My classroom services the students with special needs within a general education classroom.
For many of my students, school is the only place where they have consistency and stability.
My 3rd graders are eager to learn, and they all learn in different ways. It's amazing to watch them grow at their own pace.
These two items will allow my students to learn in a less traditional desk/seat environment allowin me to create a fun, creative, and welcoming classroom.
We will have several whole group gatherings throughout the day for checkin's, whole group teaching, and reflections, the rug will allow all students to sit comfortably in one place together.
The stools will be used at my small group table for Guided Reading and Writing instruction. Throughout the day I pull 3 groups of 5 students to my table for Guided Reading and Writing instruction. This will give them a fun alternative seat for this instruction.
