Science is the search for truth. My students know that science begins with observations which lead to questions which lead to experimentation. And they know that their conclusions should lead to more questions to propagate the cycle of science.
Rolling farmlands surround our brand new building.
Our students come from a variety of backgrounds ranging from professional to labor, single parent to legacy longevity. We host a wide variety of first languages and celebrate our diverse cultural ancestry. As a designated STEAM school, our students integrate all of their talent and resources to create solutions for a brighter tomorrow.
My Project
The essence of any Life Science class is life itself. Managing the various inputs that effect life processes is challenging. However, a quality greenhouse allows students the chance to observe and impact life through various means, while maximizing control over the environment. These portable, tabletop Plant Light Houses use our limited space wisely and create several micro-environments to ensure that our learning is as broad as possible.
Our partnership with http://tomatosphere.org/ allows us to annually receive tomato seeds that were flown on the International Space Station.
Among other activities, this one is an authentic blind study where the results are completely unknown until compiling the data and comparing it with other schools around the globe. These Plant Light Houses are also customizable to grow Wisconsin Fast Plants, a staple of genetics, germination, and botany studies.
