My classroom is not a typical classroom, we are a self-contained special education classroom of severe special needs students. We have 24 students who are all very varied in ability and skills. Communication between home and school is critical and these are not kids that can go home and share their day with their parents.
It's very hard to know what is going on with your kiddo when they don't communicate in a typical fashion!
My kiddos need activities that will enhance communication skills, items that we can use to communicate back and forth to school, and help enhance the student's day.
My Project
There are multiple activities that will help my kiddos work with communication practice, to include activities that would help with sequencing and then some Spanish/ English tasks. The cards for understanding / comprehending are going to be so fun in our communication groups!
Art is super fun, engaging, and boosts communication skills!
The construction paper will help with tasks and activities that will encourage communication.
Our classroom needs a lot of hands-on tasks so everything will help us be the most productive while learning! There are also a couple students who are English second language learners so the matching cards will be super helpful to practice our English and Spanish identification of objects.
