I want my students to keep their eyeballs! To be able to have enough hands-on science in the classroom, students must be protected and safe at all times. We don't have enough goggles for all of the science classes at our school.
Our school is a close-knit community, and its students are bright, eager, and excited for a new year of 8th grade science.
They are part of a very encouraging community, but unfortunately most come from families who have a hard time supporting just their family rather than having to provide materials for their students education as well. I would like to feed our students' curious attitudes by allowing them to engage in real action science labs.
My Project
Students will be working with chemicals, heat, and fire over the course of the year, and we only have 30 goggles to cover around 400 8th graders. I myself teach around 200 of them, and my classroom doesn't have its own set of goggles. One of the primary goals in science is to promote safety among all things that our students do, and one of the essentials of lab safety is to protect their eyes with lab safety goggles. This set of lab safety goggles will not only protect their eyeballs, but will teach them good habits of lab safety, for instance always covering sensitive areas, and sanitizing goggles after each use.
If we don't get these goggles, our students might have their eyeballs melt out of their heads!
But no, really, there aren't enough goggles to go around to all the 8th grade classes in our science wing, and it is more hygienic to have our own class set to avoid the spread of diseases such as pinkeye or colds. The sanitation kit that will arrive with these goggles will ensure the hygiene of our students, and allow us to take part in more exciting labs! Thank you!
