The preschool years are an important time in a child’s development, especially students with autism. Research has shown with early intervention a child with autism improves their communication, language, and social skills. Each one of my students is impacted by autism differently. Some have difficulty with the social skills; some have a hard time attending to tasks and some with language.
Autism is a lifelong neurodevelopmental disorder and it is my goal to help my students to become as independent as they can be and one step closer to becoming a functioning member of society.
I use a combination of evidence-based practices such as applied behavioral analysis (ABA), discrete trial teaching (DTT), picture exchange commutation system (PECS), and other teaching methods to increase their learning. With your support, my students will be given a strong and better chance to become as successful as they can be.
My Project
My students need a writing table, where they can access all the things they need at one place. We do a lot of work station, small group, and one on one work. The writing table will give my students independence and space to improve their fine motor skills and writing skills. They will have easy access to writing materials such as paper, pencils, scissors, crayons, and other writing implements.
They say that writing is a dying art.
By donating to our project, you will not only help improve their first attempts at the writing process, you will ultimately help them find enjoyment in writing. Students will learn how to write their beautiful names, which is one of the first words children usually learn to write. The product that I have selected will help my students with writing by giving them a chance to explore, use different writing tools, and to write.
