My Students

This project is for a third grade ICT classroom in a socioeconomically diverse, Brooklyn public school. Our co-teaching team has the honor of working with a community of curious and enthusiastic students with diverse learning styles, needs, and interests. Our students enjoy hands on learning, as well as opportunities to explain their thinking with partners and the larger classroom community.

As a teaching partnership, we work to strategically meet all students’ diverse learning needs and styles.

We accomplish this through small-group instruction. We also build upon our students’ love for discussion and diverse ways of learning by designing lessons with interactive elements and strong visual scaffolds.

Your funding will specifically meet furnishing needs that work to promote small group instruction AND high-quality visual aids during teacher presentation of lessons.

My Project

This project will specifically allow our co-teaching team to meet with students in small-groups centered on an area of learning requiring enrichment. High quality, research-backed teaching models include small-group instruction time.

Our co-teaching team will facilitate targeted small-group instruction with the support of this well-designed kidney bean table, and we will support all learners with great visual models on the dry erase magnetic easel board.

We will use the kidney bean table in order to facilitate guided reading groups, hands-on math strategy groups, writing group conferences, and multi-sensory spelling/decoding instruction.

We will also be able to display magnetic math tools on our new dry erase board so that all students have conceptual aids and multiple entry points during lesson time.

The dry erase magnetic easel board will also allow us to make lessons more interactive. Students can use magnetic manipulatives (such as place value blocks, fraction strips, or phonics chunks) to explain their thinking to the class during lessons. Also, students can share their thinking for the class, with a dry erase marker, on this easy to write on a new board that comes with one board that has upper elementary spaced writing lines.
