Many of my students struggle with academic challenges such as learning disabilities or cognitive delays. In addition to this 15% of the students I work with are second language learners. Each and every day I am truly inspired to watch the perseverance and enthusiasm of the learners I work with every day. A frustration for me is my students lack of working space and materials that would make their learning environment more conducive to learning. My goal is to begin to build a learning environment that is welcoming functional and an efficient, where students can work cooperatively and independently in order to attain their academic goals, meet their social needs as well as foster a love of learning that will last a lifetime.
My Project
I have been a Special Education teacher for 24 years. I truly enjoy what I do and working with my students. There are however challenges to helping my students be more enthused about their learning.
One of those challenges is having a welcoming and functional environment in which to teach and learn.
Learners need a usable and comfortable place for learning. A place where they look forward to going and learning. This project is designed to help make my classroom setting a more efficient and welcoming environment for my students. The rug and table that is being asked for in this project will provide a learning space for my diverse group of learners.
