Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

Help students with Autism learn to better communicate! Urban Special Education classroom is in need for an iPad to help us communicate, help with our social skills, and help us learn!

We are a classroom of eight wonderful students diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder.

Our students are consistently working on communication, social skills, behavior, and their academics. We are from a large urban district, and our families come from a low socioeconomic status, so we are unable to afford an iPad on our own.

My Project

An iPad would make such an impact on our students' lives. There are so many "apps" that would help our students grow. Our major challenge is communication, and an iPad would be able to serve as an argumentative device. There are also apps to help teach the children social skills, to help break down schedules, and to help record data. An iPad would benefit the education of my students with Autism, as well help give them meaningful communication improving their quality of life.

An iPad would mean so much to our classroom.

We desperately are working on communication, and iPad may be the key. It would allow us to continue working on social skills, and serve the positive reinforcement and the motivation to learn. An iPad would mean so much to our classroom.
