Mrs. Hafner from Columbus OH is requesting classroom basics through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need flexibility in their seating. As much as we move around, a durable teaching easel is also needed so I can move around easily and have access to materials.

WP Elementary school is one of the 70+ elementary schools in the Columbus City School District, the largest district in the state of Ohio. WP is an urban public school, listed as a Priority School, which is a school that ranks in the lowest 5% of schools in Ohio in student achievement. In addition to working hard to see a year's worth of growth in each child, we also need to work hard against the extreme learning gaps and behavior issues.
The students represented in my classroom are full of life, creativity, personality, and energy, many who need to be given options in order for them to learn best.
My students love to listen to music, dance, and keep rhythm. They like to learn in creative spaces and incorporate their interests into their learning.
This project includes a durable teaching easel as well as two different types of seating options for my students. As much as we transition and move around to different areas in the room, students are expected to be seated and engaged in their learning. Our classroom as started to incorporate flexible seating including flexibility balls, bean bag chairs, wobble seats and lap desks and the students are loving the opportunity to have choices, which is why I have started this project.
Why not make the seating accessible and fun to help engage all learners?
The teaching easel will allow for me to move around the room just as easily with the students, with the ability to store and carry my teaching materials. Having an easel like the one listed will not only increase efficiency, as it will also help me to be more mobile in my teaching.
There are two different types of stools that are included for student seating choices, some that move around, allowing the students to stay in one place but move their bodies more freely. The other stools are stationary that I will have at my instructional table for small groups.
