The best part of our school is the students. They are very hard workers who really want to learn. They are eager to please, curious, and very creative. We spend a lot of time in English/Language Arts learning about character traits so I can help them take these traits and learn how to use them in their own lives to be better students, friends, classmates, sons, daughters, and members of society.
Our school is full of a diverse group of students.
The majority of them receive free and reduced lunch and come from very different home situations. There are many who come to the high school over the summer for breakfast and lunch. Even though they come from disheartening situations, my main goal is for them to see that someone cares about them, loves them, and wants the very best for them.
My Project
Sixth grade students are eager and ready to learn. They are curious about new things, but they struggle with sitting still, paying attention, staying on task, and focusing for long periods of time. Students are required to sit in classes for longer periods, and staying focused can be difficult without the ability to move around.
Flexible seating is all about allowing students choice in where they sit.
I would like stools and wobble cushions to allow my students the ability to choose where they think they can be most comfortable and learn in ways that help them focus. I have implemented flexible seating in my class, but I would like more options for them to choose from.
