My students live and go to school in North Tulsa. A majority of North Tulsa residents live below the poverty line. Because of the high poverty in the area, my students hardly receive the bare minimum of school supplies and go without many extras.
We are preparing for state testing and my students love using white boards to provide responses to questions. In order for my students to get the most learning out of the lesson, we need white board markers and erasers for students to use.
My Project
Essentials to learning include copy paper, dry erase markers, tissues, anchor chart paper, and pens. Teachers should be provided with the materials needed for students to be successful. Unfortunately, due to cuts to education, teachers have to pay out of their own pocket for supplies that are essential to student success.
With this project, you will be helping give students what the state of Oklahoma has failed to give them, necessary materials for learning.
The dry erase markers and reusable wipe and write pockets provide students access to engaging with the material instead of completing worksheets on paper. The requested anchor chart paper will provide my students the resource of having content explained all around the classroom. Easel paper also makes group work easily accessible for students. My students also need the snacks to fuel them to keep learning as well as tissues because it is flu season and they have runny noses.
