My students are amazing individuals who I have the pleasure of spending the day with and learning about themselves and their cultures.
Within the walls of my classroom each year I have at least 10 different languages represented and numerous different cultures. It is an amazing environment to teach about difference because it is so evident. I truly indebted to my students for all they teach me about life and their culture.
My Project
Over the past six years I have worked at a school that uses Teacher's College Reading and Writing Project curriculum from Columbia University in New York. This curriculum fosters students to become lifelong readers and writers. The resources requested will be used throughout the school day and throughout the school year. The folders will be used by each students to organize their writing. As well as the pens will be used in writing workshop to teach basic writing skills such as planning and revision. The resources will allow my students to maintain a high quality and quantity of work through the school year.
Every year my students need these resources during the day in order to be successful in their journey to become readers and writers.
Over the last six years I have spent my own money on these tools because I believe that my students lifelong success in literacy is not negotiable.
