Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am a special education teacher to an amazing group of third and fourth graders all of which have their own unique qualities, talents and strengths. The students in my classroom also have their own unique set of challenges such as learning disabilities, emotional impairments, autism, ADHD, and physical/otherwise health impairments.
I believe EVERY child has the ability to be successful in school, regardless of age, race, ability or disability.
They deserve a classroom that is conducive to their learning needs.
My Project
My project includes very basic classroom supplies that often ran low in my special education class last year: incentive charts, pencils, folders, color pencils, color pens, dry erase markers, and dry erase erasers. These supplies ensure that each student is able to participate and remain engaged in a lesson.
My students love to be colorful and have the potential to be extraordinary in All that they do.
Colors have a major impact on how children learn and absorb information. The addition of color adds a flair to the notes that help them to retain information. These colorful notes engage both sides of their brains which helps in their memory, focus, and retention.
Also, it helps them to relax and adds some excitement to otherwise boring note taking. In addition to creating notes they create personalized stickers to add to their notes and to their assignments to add a more personal touch.
