This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
I teach first graders in a high-need community school in which we promote hands-on learning to enhance our curriculum.
Our students are excited to be in school and it is my job to help them realize how satisfying learning can be. Unfortunately, the majority of my students do not have many opportunities to explore their interests at home. It is my mission to help them discover their specific interests by finding books and resources to meet their individual needs. We promote a hands-on learning atmosphere and love being creative!
We are desperately in need of PAPER!!! Construction paper, glue sticks and paint allow us to enhance our lessons and keep everyone actively participating! The magnetic clips will allow us to be better organized and environmentally friendly at center time. The "Word Puzzles" will be a great addition to our literacy based centers. They will allow the students to be actively engaged with their work and help them build their sight word vocabulary at the same time. The whole first grade enjoys "song time" in our classroom everyday after lunch. We are always looking for more ways to enhance these shared reading experiences and "Seasonal Songs and Rhymes Activity Series" will help us do just that!
It is my job to make sure my students realize what they are capable of accomplishing. You will make it possible for me to better able equip my students into being life-long learners and allow them to see how much the world has to offer.
