Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students inspire me with their energetic interest in possibilities. I see their endless potential and thus believe they are a hope and a wish for a bright future. It is up to me and my colleagues to find ways to maintain their interests, spark their imaginations and harness this potential to help mold the future generations of this world.
At this age, so much is changing; their lives, their minds, their education.
And, even though this change is daunting and seemingly endless, many of them greet each day, ready to accept the challenge that lies before them; another mark of their potential.
What is most inspiring about these students is their circumstance. I teach in a Title One school with a wide variety of languages, ethnicity and home-life situations. Yet, my students keep going. They keep coming to school, trying their best and giving it their all in the hopes that one day, despite whatever odds may be against them, they will tap into that potential, use what we have taught them and become the future generation all educators aspire to cultivate.
My Project
These school supplies will benefit my students through their repeated use in my classroom and the efficiency they will provide. Having basic essentials such as pencils and a pencil sharpeners, helps a classroom run smoothly, without the worry of trying to find, or sharpen, a pencil at the last minute.
These materials will help my students show their learning and express their creative, intelligent thoughts.
Many of these items may be just simple things, like pencils, erasers, and a pencil sharpener, but having them in my classroom will make a world of difference for my students and myself. They will allow more time to focus on class and learning, and less time focusing on trying to find needed resources.
