Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are hardworking motivated individuals who are trying to overcome the harshness of the reality they live in. They come from impoverished war zones and are trying to rise above the cloud of violence and lack of education that surrounds them. When they are in my class they have the opportunity to break free form those chains and reach their full potential. As an ESL teacher i see the struggle they go through to integrate themselves into the culture and society around them. Helping them overcome the language barrier is essential in setting them up for success.
My Project
Through the use of the Kagan aides I will be able to foster a more engaging and meaningful learning experience for the students. In the middle school classroom, there is a real need to keep the students highly engaged. I attended the Kagan training in hopes of increasing my knowledge and better become a master of my craft. I loved their ideas as I see them as highly beneficial for my students in keeping them highly engaged and bringing a sense of novelty to learning. In fostering this love for learning I hope to be able to minimize, at least while they are in my classroom, the noise and worry my students carry with them from the often harsh reality that their lives carry.
