Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I work in a small, fully inclusive charter school, where almost seventy percent of the students receive free or reduced-price lunch. I work with students who are labeled in many ways: ELL, LD, ID, BIP, IEP, SLP, apraxic, autistic, ADD, ADHD, ODD, and the list goes on. I'm working to help students remove their labels and find their feet, as well as their voices.
My students come from a variety of backgrounds, but one thing they have in common is their thirst for creative learning opportunities.
My Project
This project is to amp up our classroom economy. Students work for a weekly "payment"; they budget and spend monies on new books, book marks, lunch with the teacher, extra recess, homework passes, and maybe...3D Pen time.
Engineering, creative, hands-on, and out of the ordinary ideas will hook and engage your students.
This project will help engage and focus our students on high level goals. 3D pens, filament, and molds will be the start of a new prize that students can budget and work for. A class economy can get old- quickly. This project is to infuse our year-long, financial literacy unit with updated and cutting edge technology!
