Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are 7 and 8-year-old, second-graders in an urban district. I generally have 26 students and often teach siblings and family members as the years pass. They are from diverse backgrounds as at one point over 60 languages were spoken in our district. They are inquisitive and love being active and social in their learning environment. Math and science are their favorite subjects although they absolutely love a good book.

Throughout the day, my students love to mix it up or have the opportunity to sit and work with different groups of children.​ They love to research ideas and especially love looking at maps of the world and different countries especially those of their culture.

They are creative and love being in school.

My Project

Our classroom is currently without an easel! Students frequently showcase their knowledge in a subject by presenting work and sharing their learning with the class. Presenting in such a way empowers them as learners and is a powerful and effective platform for students. It also helps the rest of the class as peer learning experiences are some of the most effective ways for students to learn.
