Our classroom is full of life, noise, and learning! We have 16 energetic first-graders who come in every day ready to try their best and learn something new. They come from all different backgrounds, with different home lives, strengths, and needs.
One thing they have in common is a supportive community, and I couldn't be more thankful!
Despite living in a low income area in rural Maine, our community is willing to put education at the forefront and support their students in any way possible.
My Project
In our classroom, we learn through playing! Many of our small-group and independent activities are puzzles, spinner games, matching activities, and clip cards.
These help us learn in a way that is fun!
When we're playing, we're more likely to stay focused on what we are learning, and we're more likely to remember the skills and use them in our lives.
We love clip cards and games, because we get to practice our fine motor skills and be social while we work, which helps connect more parts of our brains to the information! With the Clothespin Clip Cards and Bootcamp Bundles, we can practice identifying and using different skills like blends and digraphs, addition and subtraction, and grammar. When we use the Interactive Powerpoint bundle, we can practice building fluency on skills like rhyming, stretching out words, recognizing number patterns, and counting by 2s, 5s, and 10s while using technology!
The best part is: these products cover skills for THE WHOLE YEAR! They even have some review skills from kindergarten and some preview skills for 2nd grade! We can learn so much with these!
