My school is located south of Houston in close proximity to Johnson Space Center. My school has one of the most diverse student populations in the entire district. My students come from all over the world and from many cultural and economic backgrounds. My students excel not only intellectually, but creatively and artistically as well. They come to my class with their eyes full of excitement and their brains brimming with questions.
My goal is to have a classroom environment that encourages cooperation, collaboration, creativity, and innovative thinking!
Every day my room is full of activity as my gifted students participate in lessons that encourage academic and social-emotional growth. My students love challenges that allow them to apply 21st century skills in an environment where thinking outside the box is not only encouraged, but expected.
My Project
The kit and supplies will provide my students with an introduction into the world of forensic science. Students will get first hand, inquiry based laboratory activities to help them better understand the topics and concepts that go along with forensic science.
Students learn best through hands-on activities and this kit will allow for such exploration and discovery.
They'll explore the world of CSI as they unravel a mystery of stolen field trip money. Students will practice scientific reasoning as they scrutinize fibers, test soil samples, identify DNA, and other forensic science skills. This kit is designed to challenge kids to use deductive thinking skills and cooperate with their peers to determine who committed the crime!
