At my school, the teachers, staff, parents, and community strive to give our students the best we can. Many of our students and families struggle with things like structure, routine, food, and finances. Language is another factor that makes our students so special, but also can create another hurdle for them to jump. We are a melting pot of languages, cultures, personalities, dreams, and goals. We will learn so much together and even more from each other.
When working with students who have struggled outside of school, it is important to create a community that is safe and supportive.
Students need so much more than math instruction and reading groups, they need love, understanding, and strategies for success. They also need healthy coping strategies and ways to calm their crazy world.
We are very proud to be a team. We work together each and every day to tackle math problems, understand texts, ask questions and help each other to do our best. Our team is dedicated to become the best readers, writers, thinkers, and workers that we can be!
These materials are vital to my classroom environment and organization. The largest portion of this project is notebooks! Each student will receive 3 notebooks... a writing notebook, a math notebook, and a reading notebook.
Our notebooks are some of our most important tools we will use in our classroom!
We will record our thinking, reading, and stories together. Notebooks show our growth from September to June; we can look back at any time and use our notebooks as tools and see how far we have come.
The other materials will also help to create our classroom environment. Expo markers, binders, and organizational tools will aid me (the teacher) in keeping learning happening and records up to date.
