My Students

My curious, investigative students walk into their public school each day with thousands upon thousands of questions. Their thirsty minds aren't meant to be quenched by book or worksheet alone, but by playful investigation and collaborative experience. The curious learners in my classroom want to know as much as they can...about everything.

They're brave learners who try new things and love to share with one another their newest knowledge.

Most receive a free breakfast and lunch daily, and many regard school as a safe haven for them to play, learn, make mistakes, and feel loved. It's a truly special school with even more special students.

My Project

Help our students and their teachers delve deeper into the world of comprehension. Our campus is working so hard to develop an understanding of our students' reading levels and how to support their specific development.

This comprehension toolkit helps teachers to locate the particular place where comprehension falls down and allows them to intervene with supportive lessons, goals, tips, and tricks to motivate their students to grow in their reading practice.

Students who are motivated to achieve in this way will develop a deeper understanding of the material they read in fiction or nonfiction texts, and their teachers will be better able to support them in all texts.
