This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

Welcome to my First grade in Milwaukee Public Schools. My class is a full inclusion class with a range of diversity. I am extremely proud of how far they have come this year as a class.

One accomplishment I am extremely proud of- My class has grown into caring, compassionate and respectful young people.

My students come to school each day ready to learn in a safe and caring environment. They deserve to have things that all children are entitled to.

My Project

I have 6-7 year old students. It is extremely hard for them to be seated at a desk all day and be expected to learn. I am looking for flexible seating areas (classroom rug and furniture) to allow students to take charge of their learning that works best for them.

I have noticed how my students attention is better when I give them a choice about seating and working with others.

This also helps with the climate of my class. The kids love to make their own decisions regarding their learning. They also learn to appreciate others personal space and the concept of taking turns.
