Classroom Community Closet

Help me give my students items that will help keep them warm and healthy this winter. Many students come to school with needs not being met from home. These items will allow us to grow our community items.

My Students

Many of my students enter our school for the first time in kindergarten. They come from smaller outside daycare and preschool programs. Entering a large school can be intimidating and scary for some kids. There are so many new things to learn and try out.

"Doing whatever it takes to ensure success for every child." That is our motto!

We are a Title I school where our students come from diverse backgrounds. Our 900 + population receives free breakfast and lunch. Many of our students have experienced significant trauma in their lives, and school is a safe space for many of them.

My students are inquisitive, curious, and playful learners! They spend an equal amount of time learning how to regulate their bodies to be able to learn. Being able to focus on academics and know strategies to regulate your own body is quite the learning process when in kindergarten.

My Project

Many students come to school with needing items they don't have access too. Gloves for them to wear outside in the snow, socks to change into because their shoes or boots get wet, undergarments for accidents and much more. Young kids are always licking their lips and around their mouths in the cold air leading to chapped lips, and this donation would allow each student to have their own labeled chapstick to keep in their tool boxes.

These items are not provided at school; they are only available based on what the teacher has stocked up on.

This would help our kindergarten community grow the items we have to support students with their needs. These items will allow me to keep my students safe, warm, healthy, and in school.
