My Students

I am a first grade teacher in an inclusion classroom at a Title I school in Framingham, Massachusetts. My classroom is full of first graders who are curious, creative and eager to learn. They come to school each day full of energy and excitement! First grade is a fundamental year of development where students grow as individuals and become stronger readers, writers and mathematicians. I take enjoyment in watching them reach their full potential both academically and socially. Our classroom is designed to be positive and collaborative which allows children to build strong relationships with their peers and teachers. Most importantly, we aim to instill a love for school and learning within each of our students!

My Project

We come together in our meeting area multiple times throughout the school day. This is the central area of the classroom where we introduce new concepts, have read alouds, participate in partner work, and encourage a culture of kindness. Having a carpet with designated seating spaces will provide students their own area where they can do their best listening and learn comfortably. It helps to visually define personal space boundaries for each child. Additionally, the carpet space allows for structure and routine which will help facilitate smooth transitions between activities. A meeting carpet will provide our classroom with a space where we can come together as a community of learners.
