My students need clipboards for writing and reading group work that are often held on the rug in our classroom.
My students always need pencils for writing.
I am lucky enough to spend my day with 23, seven year olds. I love what I do. I've been teaching for 18 years and I consider our classroom our home away from home and I think of my students as my other 23 children. I love to be able to give my students the best tools for their education.
My 23 students come from very diverse backgrounds in an inner city school district.
Many of them struggle and faces challenges every single day but they put in so much effort to make a better life for themselves that it impresses me at even such a young age.
They want to learn. They are excited about learning every day. They are happy to come to school and spend their day with their friends and their teachers and it shows.
Some days are tough. Some days are not easy for all of them. We work hard to make sure that every student has their needs met and to be able to reach every child. With a diverse background of academic and emotional needs that can be a tough job. Anything to make our lives easier and more successful in the classroom is a huge support. As a teacher, spending sometimes gets excessive because the needs are endless. Donors Choose has been an incredible way to reach out to the community for this support. I absolutely love Donors Choose!
My Project
My students will use our storage clipboards and extra pencils during writing and reading groups every day. Right now we have some materials that have just not been replenished over the years because books, paper and other necessary items come first. These storage clip boards will be a huge support in our classroom because the students can keep them in their desk with a pencil and paper and bring them to group without wasting any time on task looking for something to lean on, searching for a book, someone having to sit at at a desk, etc. We can all sit in a small group on the floor in any subject area and work together with all that we need. This would make our lives that much easier in our classroom.
Funding this project would make a huge difference in our success throughout the day.
It would save us a great deal of time throughout the day if everyone had their own portable storage/clipboard and extra pencils. We go through boxes of pencils per week in our writing classes. This is always a huge need. We appreciate Donors Choose so much!
