My students need Chromebooks so they can have engaging instruction in the classroom.

I have the best job in the world. Is it the easiest job? No. Is it a stress-free job? No. Are the pains, frustrations, endless meetings, and impossible standards worth it? Yes, because my kids are worth it. I have the amazing opportunity to spend my day with kids who make me laugh and challenge me to be a better person and a better teacher. My school is a Title I school and I want to make sure that all of my students have engaging and innovative instructional strategies. I've envisioned my classroom to be a place where my students see themselves achieving things that they never knew were possible.
My students are in desperate need of Google Chromebooks.
Due to state-mandated and county testing, the computer labs in our school are constantly being fought over. Due to that, I am unable to do some engaging lessons with my students. Google Chromebooks would be such a revolutionizing tool in my classroom.
Having the set of Chromebooks will allow for different structures of learning in my classroom. I have anywhere from 30-35 kids in a classroom and I would like students to work in partners to participate in cross country book clubs. Students can use the Chromebooks' video camera to interact with students via flipgrid.com and discuss common themes in their novels. I also want students to create online blogs where they discuss the common themes of their book club while also participating in writing exercises. Today's students are digital natives and they need to be exposed to completing more work online. It is an easy way to engage them and reach students in today's technological world.
This initiative will make a difference because, as I said before, these students are the digital natives. Our classrooms are not yet at the level technologically to meet their needs as learners.
This grant will help to close that gap just a little bit more.
