This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are working hard to learn and achieve 2nd-grade math standards. I recently attended a Math professional development training. I’m excited to start expanding my math centers based on knowledge gained at the workshops. The teacher resource manual, sturdy cardstock, lamination materials, and writing utensil holder requested, provide me the opportunity to create organized engaging centers.

I’ve created interactive math centers that will help the students practice their skills.

These centers include Addition and Subtraction (2-3 digits), Place Value, Subitizing, Expanded Form and much more. The students switch activities via work stations where they can practice various skills. The students will also have an option to take tasks cards or games home for extra practice. The lamination really helps preserve wear and tear of the materials. Students love centers because it is an interactive way to learn and practice skills. The centers help them stay engaged and allow them to practice skills and answer questions in a fun motivating way.

I have noticed amazing differences in my students when they are given a choice in their learning. They work independently in student lead groups, and get more work completed than when they are just sitting at their desks.
