I currently teach Kindergarten. The students are excited every day to be in school. The students come from low-income households. At school I want to give them every opportunity to learn and explore.
The students love to come to school and learn.
The students are very engaged in math. They love that they are learning to add and subtract. The students are currently beginning learn their sounds, letters, shapes, and colors. This is very exciting time for the students and the first time most of them have been in school.
My Project
Kindergartners spend a lot of time learning and playing all over the classroom! One place that they really enjoy spending time is the carpet. We gather together to read stories on the carpet. Students buddy up to play Math games on the carpet. My students enjoy building blocks and playing with Legos on the carpet. There are all kind of things we do together at the carpet.
It's where our classroom family gathers together to learn and play and grow.
This carpet will be so helpful to our classroom family. We would all fit on the carpet together! Not only that, it is "child-friendly" in that it has bright squares designed to give each child enough space of his/her own when sitting on the carpet. Young children tend to have a difficult time managing a large space that isn't defined. This carpet is a perfect visual for allowing children to have their own spot.
