My students need a new classroom carpet. We have had the same carpet for 8 years. It is getting threadbare and stained

My Students

The classroom carpet is a meeting place for the students. They sit on it to listen to stories, have large group, participate in class meetings, read books and play with manipulatives. We spend about 90% of our day on this classroom rug.

The school houses 9 sessions of kindergarten, 4 sessions of preschool and a Malti-handicap unit.

There is also a title 1 reading teacher and an intervention specialist. The students in my classroom are kindergarten age. The attend all day kindergarten. Over 50% of my students receive free or reduced lunch. They come from a variety of social-economic levels. We are located in a suburban area. Our school district has the highest poverty level in our county. There are 24 students currently in the classroom. Future students will also benefit from this project.

My Project

The students will use the carpet for a meeting place. They will sit on the carpet to listen to stories, read books, have class meetings and play with manipulatives. They will use the letters and shapes to assist in their learning. The letters give them a designed place to sit as well as learning letter identification. The same is true with the shapes.

A classroom rug will give the students a boundary for large group and class meeting.

It will give them a comfortable place to sit or lay down. It will help create a warm and inviting classroom environment.
