I am a third grade teacher at P.S. 3, the Bedford Village School in Bedford Stuyvesant in Brooklyn, New York. I am sponsoring a fund raiser in my school as soon as school starts on Thursday, requesting that students give up their candy money to help the children who are victims of Hurricane Katrina. I will be asking the teachers of my school to also contribute to the Red Cross Relief Fund. I am requesting that you support my students by sending a Care Package to students who have been displaced in New Orleans. This package will include notebooks, pencils, glue sticks, crayons, and markers. I believe that children who have would be willing to help other children, who because of the catastrophe, don't have. I believe that my students, as well as all of the students from P.S.3, will be willing to sacrifice some of their candy money to help other children. I believe that a great lesson of being able to make a difference in the world would be learned because of this act of giving on my students' part. I also think that a gift bag filled with school supplies will absolutely bring several smiles to children who have been in pain for too long of a time because of what has happened to their families. I am requesting a donation for these well needed supplies. The supplies could be purchased from Office Depot. Thanking you in advance for your generosity.
