My Students

This year I have students who are eager to learn math. They come to class ready for challenges, struggles, new opportunities, and growth. My classes ask questions that deepen their understanding. Their quest for learning and applying math to everyday life is inspiring. My kiddos persevere through tough questions and show me what true grit is.

My students make me want to come to school every morning.

My classroom is full of kind comments, peer communication, and laughter. Their bright smiles and positive attitudes remind me that I am their teacher for more than just learning math.

My Project

My school currently asks parents to provide calculators for their students. Out of my 85 students, 25% can't afford a calculator. I would love to have a classroom set of calculators that I can reuse year after year.

My job as a teacher is to make sure my students are prepared to apply math to their everyday life.

I feel that my students need to know how to appropriately and accurately use a calculator.

For my students who struggle with math, either because it is difficult for them or because it doesn't interest them, use of this technology can intrigue them. My hope through this project is that I can engage more students through the use of calculators.
