Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

Many of my kids come from low-income housing. My school is a Title I school with limited resources and supplies. Despite their challenges, my kids love learning, and they love being at school.

I have a classroom filled with little kids who are eager to learn but do not always have the resources to help them reach their full potential.

I want to encourage them to learn and grow throughout the school year.

My Project

My students love to read about characters that look similar to them. Their faces light up when they read a character that has the same struggles as them. It is important for all students to be represented in the literature they are reading.

Diversity in books teaches students empathy and compassion for others.

These books will help my students be introduce to chapter books. These books are slightly longer, but still incorporate pictures within the pages. These books are also some of my students' favorite books.

Books have the beautiful ability to transport readers, inform readers and inspire readers.
