My kiddos this year are some of the best! We have been working so hard on being kind and showing kindness in our daily lives within our classroom.
This group of kiddos is full of energy, enthusiasm and perseverance.
My students have spent their days writing notes to friends, adults and strangers just to help make someone's day a little better. They really are making a difference in our school. Each day we discuss kindness and now I notice them taking it upon themselves to continue these things.
I couldn't be more proud of who these kiddos are. They really deserve the best we can give them!
My Project
We have begun reading a classroom book each day. We call it #classroombookaday. Each day, we read a complete book and discuss what we think, as well as the theme or message we learn from the book. Having a book each day allows us do so much. We are able to celebrate holidays and special days that come up with books. We are able to introduce different genres and allow students to fully experience them in one day. We are able to address social and emotional needs of our classroom as the needs arise. We are able to address standards in each book as they connect.
Students feel safe and accepted through books in which they see themselves.
Their minds and hearts are opened as they experience books that show them how others think and feel. We have common texts to go back to all year as we anchor new learning. #classroombookaday really makes a difference in our community and school.
Coming together as a class in so important for our classroom community. We currently have hard tile floors which are difficult for students to sit on. Also, during snow and mud seasons, the floor is wet or covered in dirt. A rug will provide a place for us really to come together and discuss each new classroom book we read.
