Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students have provided me a diverse and unified perspective on life. For this reason and multiple others, my students mean the world to me. Day in and day out my students bring an array of personalities into the classroom. Despite their hardships, each is able to prosper in my class with a smile on their face. I service students with intellectual disabilities ranging from mild to profound. My students struggle with transitioning from adolescence to adulthood independently. My goal is to provide them with the skills necessary to make those transitions successfully.
My ultimate goal is to diversify the employment realm by providing students with disabilities a chance to succeed in their careers and life.
I would like to offer each of them all the opportunities possible. It is an aspiration of mine to have my students beat the obstacles and odds of life and statistics.
My Project
Working in a district that is currently experiencing budget cuts presents financial hardships. These materials will provide my students with the tools necessary to make each day a little easier. We will be able to focus on academics and life skills and not have to worry about searching for materials.
Classroom basics are necessary to help my students be successful.
By providing my students with these materials they will be able to have a sanitary environment. I will be able to teach my students daily cleaning routines. I will be able to complete self-awareness projects by using all the markers, pencils, pens, crayons and highlighters. I will then display them in the class and share at events like an open house, literacy night, etc.
