My students are a spirited bunch of individuals. They enjoy communicating with others especially in this ever evolving world of technology. They do not particularly enjoy reading but I hope by the end of the year we can all share the pleasure that it brings to myself. We want to use reading to take us to a different world for just a little while so we can use our imaginations. They like action-packed stories and books. We look forward to seeing what adventure is next.
My Project
Many of my students live below the poverty line and do not have the extra money for school supplies. I am asked several times a day for essentials like paper and pencils. I want all children to be successful and even the little things make it possible, which is why I am requesting classroom basics. I have a pencil sharpener in my room currently but it is borrowed from another teacher for the time. I want my students to fall in love with reading and writing as much as possible. I plan to use the pencils and paper for students to write essays about different topics. I also teach Social Studies which I plan on utilizing the map poster of the United States to teach students about the geography and the way the climate of different states impact the economy. Allowing students to be creative in an educational environment will only make them better people going into the future.
