Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Many of my students come from low socio-economic families and are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. After Irma, things became even more challenging. If I can in any way provide them with most the things they need to succeed it will help them achieve.
Despite all the hardship that students encounter daily, they aim to succeed in school and in life.
My students are the bottom 25% academically but I strive to help them achieve and succeed.
My Project
Hurricanes have caused my students and their families to suffer damage on their homes and lives. Since Maria, we are starting to see an increase of students to our area that evacuated Puerto Rico after Hurricane Maria devastated their homes. These students have almost nothing and I need to be able to provide basic supplies to put their minds at ease.
My students need basic classroom supplies like pencils, pens, whiteboard easers, laminator, paper cutter, stylus pens and other basic supplies to remain academically successful.
These supplies will provide my students with useful, effective, and efficient ways to remain on task inside my classroom and help them feel welcomed. My students will use these supplies daily to cultivate their learning while in school. These supplies will take one more thing off their minds, and they can actively engage in my lessons because they will not need to worry about having or looking for these supplies.
