My Students
My students come from a low-income area and low socioeconomic backgrounds. One hundred percent qualify for free breakfast and lunch. We lack many everyday school supplies, and many of the parents cannot afford to buy their children pencils, folders, and other essential supplies for school.
Many of my students come from low-income households.
Eighty-five percent of the students are English Language Learners, so many do not receive much help at home due to language. The teachers at our school are mentors to the children. We want all our students to succeed. The school provides a caring and warm environment to learn.
My Project
My students get excited to receive the essential classroom materials to have for themselves. It makes them feel happy and want to do the required class work and homework. Having the materials such as incentive charts to let them see what they mastered, paperclips to keep papers safe, dry erase markers to share our work on the white board and on their personal white boards, the clock to make it visible for kids to see what time it is, and 100th day pencils for the 100th day of school are materials necessary for learning. During math class some students like to use graph paper to show their math work. The hanging files will keep students work safe and organized. These basic supplies are truly necessary for keeping our classroom running smoothly.
