This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
A lot of my students come from mid to lower income family homes as well as poverty stricken homes.
They cherish the simple things and come to school eager to learn and expand their minds with vast knowledge of every day learning.
My Project
For some reason, throughout the entire school year, many of my students never seemed to have a pencil or pencil sharpener. Not only will the pencil sharpener come in handy, but the dry erase markers to go along with the white boards are a great alternative to doing math. We play Math Jeopardy a lot and this will be a great way for every student to participate while also allowing me to see their answers clearly.
My students utilize I-Ready weekly and for many, they like to have the questions read to them.
The classroom set of headphones will allow every student to focus independently whether it’s listening to the lesson being read to them or even playing soft music to help them stay focused.
In my school, we usually only see have one printer working at a time and most times there’s always a paper jam. As a result, this forced me to buy my own printer for my classroom. Ink can be very expensive, especially if you make a lot of copies for students. The ink cartridges will help tremendously in allowing me to print out anything quickly for my students.
The classroom timer is something I’ve wanted for a while. I was told by my academic coach that it’s important to time students in order for them to stay on tasks so we can get through the opening, work session and closing for a complete lesson. The giant classroom timer will be able to stick to the white board so every student can see and help me stay on track as well.
Last but not least, the tissues and disinfecting wipes are essential. These items will greatly help stop the spread of germs and create a healthier classroom environment.
