As a teacher, I want to provide a fun, safe, caring, and engaging environment for all my students. Many come from low-income families. I strive to provide a positive and exciting experience that most of my students may never have a chance to experience at home.
Our school is a small continuum and a diversified public school that has a unique model.
It is designed to provide a continuous and nurturing educational experience in a small school environment. Located on one campus, the school currently enrolls students ages six-months through grade 12.
As a Head Start classroom, we have centers in our room that are open for children to explore. One area that is a must for all early childhood classrooms is the art area. I wish to turn my simple, boring art area into a place where my students never want to leave. This is somewhat challenging because it takes a lot of materials to pull it off.
This is where DonorsChoose.org comes in; with the support of donors, I can make this creative art area dream a reality for my students.
There are so many materials to name; however, every item of this project will be used in some way by my students as they invent, create, and explore. Some items like the Heavy-Duty Holds Everything Storage Unit and the 24 Drawer Plastic Parts Storage Craft Cabinet will be used to store the art materials, making them easily accessible to all students. The Classroom Carry-Alls will be used to organize our crayons, markers, and colored pencils. The Jumbo Messy Mats will help with clean up before we have to transition into lunch. The Building Cards Roylco Skyscraper and the Straws and Connectors Jumbo Set will assist my students with exploring and experimenting with creating sculptures.
