Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

Every day, my students interact with each other to connect, collaborate and create in our diverse community. My school is an urban elementary school of 310 students who are becoming globally competent and college ready. We are the 4th most diverse elementary school in the nation. This is our second year in our renovated school.

My 2nd and 3rd graders are becoming life long learners more and more each day.

They are eager to learn especially when they get a chance to learn more about each other’s background and culture.

My Project

Having three AreoGardens will help us in many ways.

First, my second and third graders will learn how to grow food aeroponically in our classroom.

The energy-efficient AeroGarden is a great way to reduce our "food miles" or the distance our food must travel between the field and our plates, thus reducing our carbon footprint.

The final most important thing is that my second and third graders will get to enjoy the benefits of the AreoGarden as it increases oxygen in our classroom during the dry winter months and they get to consume more fruits and vegetables during the year.
