Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Having had the privilege of teaching students from Kindergarten through college, I know that the best place to be is right where I am, with our SUPER middle school students. Arriving as children, then emerging as young adults, middle school kids are eager to learn and fun to teach!
It is so rewarding, to witness their growth and maturity over the three short years that they are with us.
It is with this maturity that I plan to introduce a selection of classic novels. That they gain appreciation and interest in these and other classic titles, they and I will have witnessed success.
My Project
For generations, classic novels such as The Phantom Tollbooth, Johnny Tremain, and Journey to the Center of the Earth have kept listeners and readers spellbound. Other titles, for example, Orwell's 1984, deliver prophetic warnings that confirm the consequences of an over-reliance on the "telescreen," and the real dangers of possessing only limited vocabulary.
I'm enthusiastic about sharing these selections with students and teachers.
These classics will be displayed prominently, and I will be bringing students and teachers to these shelves frequently!
